OUR FIRST EVENT

IMG_2545_edited.jpg

The community is invited to this event! Let's come together, sign the petition, understand WHAT a shark net is, WHY they do not work,  and WHY they are lethal for our marine life!

SHARK NETS DON'T PROVIDE PROTECTION

"The shark mesh nets do not act as a complete barrier to shark reaching beaches as they are not permanently set in the water, do not cover the whole length of the beach, and do not extend from the water surface to the seabed. In fact, approximately 40% of shark entanglements occur on the beach side of the nets, because sharks are able to swim over and around the nets" - Report by Fisheries Scientific Committee

We will be launching our first campaign, for the permanent removal of shark meshing from our beaches, with an event at Terrigal Beach on Sunday, 28 April. Shark nets are removed on 30 April each year and returned at the beginning of Spring (in September).

Come along, sign our petition, be part of our email writing campaign, have a swim, or be part of our paint-in.
